The dominant 9 chord and arpeggio with the 6th string root.

 

The Dominant 9 Chord

The Dominant 9 chord, usually called simply the 9th chord, has the 1, 3, 5, b7, and 9 intervals. Be sure to mute the 5th and 1st strings. The hollow note is the root. The root is not played but the chord is associated with the root note on the 6th string. The numbers in the diagram below represents the fingering
