The Dominant 7 Chord

The Dominant 7 chord, commonly called the 7 chord, has the 1, 3, 5, b7 intervals. Below are two fingerings. The first tends to be favored by blues and jazz players while the second is often used in rock and ballads. The numbers in the diagram below represents the fingering.

The dominant 7 scale, also know as the mixolydian mode, has the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and b7 intervals. The numbers in the diagram below represents the fingering.
